NC Rush Central Players Shine at Rush Select Regional Showcase, Solidifying College Pathways
Chapel Hill, NC
—
NC Rush Central players made a massive statement at the Rush Select Regional Training Center and College ID Camp this June. Five standout NC Rush Central players earned selections to the prestigious Top 22 All-Star Game, after nearly one hundred players trained with dozens of college coaches representing NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA programs, the Top 22 were given a final showcase match to close out the event.
The All-Star match highlighted the high playing level of the Rush Select program, with NC Rush Central athletes driving the game's decisive moments. Josh Thawng and Eli Battle both scored to lift the Grey Team to a 2-0 victory over the Blue Team. Joining them in the showcase match were teammates Seamus Fahey, Cavin Roach Cooley and Noah Finken who all earned All-Star selections for the Boys College ID session.
The excitement extended to the younger generations as well, with NC Rush Central players from the U10-U15 age groups performing incredibly well at their Central ID Center sessions on the weekend. For U9-U12 athletes, the event served as a fantastic first introduction into the Rush Select system and several may be chosen to move into the next phase of the program for regional level events. For U13-U15 those players may be chosen for a Rush Select Regional Team roster and invited to continue their journey at the International Rush Cup in Florida this November where top performing regional team players will be narrowed down into two Rush Select National Team rosters after competing against other Rush Regional Teams and International Team from France, Canada, Ireland, Panama, Bolivia to name a few.
The NC Rush competitive program and Rush Select pathway aims to produce top college and professional talent, as recently highlighted by Oscar Avilez. Avilez played for Virginia Rush and Rush Select before progressing into the DC United Academy. Oscar recently signed a full professional contract at only 15 years old, becoming the 22nd Homegrown signing in Rush Soccer history. His journey shows how the Rush pathway, from local development to the professional level, continues to shape the future of the game.
"We are incredibly proud of how our players performed on this major stage," said Jason Sisneros, NC Rush Central Founder. "Seeing five of our older boys dominate the All-Star game and catch the eyes of college scouts—while our U10-U15 players excelled in their first taste of the ID Center— is a testament to all of our player’s talent and dedication. For our younger players, they are now experiencing first hand what is possible. The Rush Select pathway is real, accessible, and designed to launch players to the next level and being a younger player at NC Rush Central they will have every opportunity to reach their potential and go for their soccer dreams."
The Rush Select program identifies, develops, and showcases top talent across the entire Rush network, creating a direct bridge from club soccer to collegiate and professional opportunities.
