Roy Van Veld - 11v11 Coach
How did you become involved in soccer and coaching?
My soccer career started when I was 5 years old at the Durham YMCA. Since then it has been one of the mainstays of my life. I continue to play locally in adult leagues and assorted pickup groups. I started formally working with kids in my late teenage years and—after having kids myself—began coaching my son’s local club team. Additionally, I helped create a weekly, local, “kids and parents” pickup group that has been consistently active for a few years now. Soccer has been, is, and always will be a huge part of my life, as a player, spectator, and coach.
Why you are excited to be part of the new Rush program?
I’m excited to join the Rush Central program because it will give me the opportunity to be more involved in local youth soccer AND I’m excited about what Jason and the coaching staff can provide the local youth soccer community through the greater Rush organization. Jason’s vision for what Rush will provide and what it prioritizes really resonates with me and aligns with what I feel our local youth soccer community could use.
